Legendary producer Brian Eno visits Peel Acres and looks through John Peel's magnificent archive, picking some of his favourite tracks and obscure songs from the vast collection of vinyl.
Brian remembers listening to John Peel on the radio and how he discovered a lot of music through his radio shows. He also tells the story of when John played his own music backwards.
Throughout the hour, Brian Eno talks passionately about some of the artists in the archive, who are perhaps not the best known - and chats to the man who keeps the collection safe.

We go back to this time 40 years ago when David Bowie released Heroes and Brian Eno Before And After Science. Their work together at this time was key in the development of electronic music and it's emergence into the pop world. We hear both men talking about each other from separate interviews, which makes fascinating listening.
We hear about Eno's oblique strategies cards, just how quick Bowie was in the studio, how he really needed Eno at that time as he evolved his song writing and musical style, and see the first hints of Eno going into the world of ambient music.

Brian Eno's soundtrack work has spanned five decades and includes hundreds of pieces used in films, documentaries and television shows including more than 20 complete scores for some of the best known directors in the world. From early collaborations with Derek Jarman to classic films like David Lynch's Dune, Danny Boyle's Trainspotting, Jonathan Demme's Married to the Mob, and Michael Mann's Heat. He has also scored extensively for television, including all three series of award-winning UK crime drama Top Boy.
Miranda Sawyer speaks to him about his body of work ahead of the release of "Film Music 1976 - 2020", his first ever collection of music from his film and television soundtrack oeuvre which includes some previously unreleased compositions.

A variety of labels can be stuck on this week's Desert Island Discs castaway - from rock musician to experimental artist, from visual sculptor to composer and intellectual guru of the rock world. He is Brian Eno, and he started his career by making music playing with tape recorders, then went on to play with bands who rehearsed far more often than they performed, graduating through to the Portsmouth Sinfonia, and ending up with the hugely successful group Roxy Music.
Since his Roxy Music days, he has gone on to musical collaboration with David Bowie and production of the group U2. Brian Eno will be talking to Sue Lawley about his musical and artistic activities in the mainstream, as well as on the fringes of, international cultural life.
