RADIOHEAD - STEVE LAMACQ'S 1997 INTERVIEW (320kbs-m4a/62mb/27mins)
BBC Radio 6 Music broadcast: 18th May 2022
Ahead of our OK Computer celebration on Friday, Steve repeats his 1997 interview with the whole band - Thom Yorke, brothers Jonny Greenwood and Colin Greenwood, Ed O'Brien and Philip Selway. The interview was recorded the week of the album release - 25 years ago this week and the band discuss the humour in their record, their desire to go off in different creative directions without being wilfully obtuse, and to avoid being pigeon-holed as a band. They also reflect on the experience of working in different locations and with their former engineer Nigel Godrich, whose phrase sums up the album, specifically "it doesn't matter how we get there, so long as we get there."
