STEVE LAMACQ'S RADIOHEAD SPECIAL (320kbs-m4a/133mb/58mins)
BBC Radio 6 Music broadcast: 22nd June 2017
Steve revisits a 1997 interview with all five members of Radiohead, recorded as they released their third, critically acclaimed and Grammy Prize-winning album OK Computer.
Thom Yorke, Colin Greenwood, Jonny Greenwood, Ed O'Brien and Philip Selway talk about the humour in their record, their desire to go off in different creative directions without being willfully obtuse, and to avoid being pigeon-holed as a band. They also reflect on the experience of working in different locations and with their former engineer Nigel Godrich, whose phrase sums up the album, specifically "it doesn't matter how we get there, so long as we get there."
He also catches up with Ed and Phil, as they release OKNOTOK to mark OK Computer's 20th anniversary, and prepare to headline Glastonbury.
